Four Months In Review

I started this blog in August, and I have had so much fun with it over the past few months. It has been an amazing creative outlet for me, and has inspired me to try so many new things. I love sharing what I’m doing with my friends and family, and I’m excited about where it can lead me in the future.

This time of year is so busy, not just for me but for everyone. I’ve had a great Christmas season so far, and I hope you all have, too. I delivered the ornaments to church yesterday, photo 1 (53)

and everyone seemed pleased that someone had decided to continue the tradition started by Mel, our former preacher’s wife.  I need to drop one in the mail today for Mel and the family; I think she would get a kick out of it.  Her ornaments were always so great!

I have a lunch date today with Madre and a couple of friends, which is a yearly event for the four of us.  It’s always a riot, so I hope the “couple of friends” will approve  of me sharing our crazy antics on the blog in the future.  That will give us all something to look forward to, trust me!  One time we went to lunch and apparently we  fell into our margaritas and accidentally had too much, which resulted in all kinds of fun!  No one drove drunk, I promise…Madre won’t touch alcohol in the day time, so we have a built-in D.D.  It was pretty hilarious.

One more week of school is in store for Coach and the girls, and one more full week of work for me before I get a few days off for Christmas. The salon is definitely in overdrive right now with lots of folks trying to get in for last-minute colors and cuts before Christmas. It’s a lot of fun, but it’s also very exhausting!

I’m filling orders today for some last-minute Christmas presents, as well. I’m trying something I’ve never tried before:  making some flax seed slippers for a client. I’ve been doing lots of research, and I’m hoping I have found the perfect pattern for those. I will share how I did it in a later post. I also have some scarves to sew for a customer, and I’m still trying to get a few things made to gift to my own family and friends.

I sold a painting this week, which was really exciting!photo 2 (51) I got to personalize it, and it turned out so cute!  It ‘s a real ego boost to sell your artwork, even if it is just crafty little home decor stuff!  I’m no trained artist, but I love painting cute stuff for kids and original wall art, like my daisies on Etsy.

Since there is so much going on, I decided to do a “Four Months In Review” post today. I will cover the highlights of the blog (Monday style) since it started, and hopefully provide a chuckle or two. The review will not only remind you how witty I am, but also will help me organize where I’ve been so I can plan where I want to take the blog in 2014. Enjoy your friends and family, lots of sweet treats, and some rest, as I plan to do, and I will be back with an arsenal of new ideas after the New Year.  In other words, I won’t be posting again until after the holidays.  This should provide plenty of reading and entertainment until I return!  Thanks for reading!
