Did you know that it’s common, and smart, to buy your hairdresser gifts for Christmas? It’s true! Who keeps you looking your best all year long? Who listens to all of your problems for half the cost of a therapist? Who stands on his or her feet for 10-12 hours a day, all week long to make everyone else beautiful? Your hairdresser, of course! And believe me, he or she will remember that you thought to make such a nice gesture! Not to say that you can bribe your stylist for better appointments or anything….ahem…but it may not hurt!
Gifts Hair Stylists Love
As most of you know, I worked as a hairstylist for 19 years, and I still have many of the things that were gifted to me by my clients at Christmas. I treasure those gifts, and remember the givers fondly. This adorable pumpkin was given to me by one of my favorite clients, and I still display it every year at Thanksgiving, and think of the sweet client who gave it to me every time I look at it. Material things don’t matter, but reminders of the good people who bless our lives are always treasured. Buying your hair stylist Christmas gifts is not mandatory, of course, but it’s such a sweet way to let them know you appreciate them. And trust me, they appreciate you, too!
When looking for hairdresser gifts for Christmas, it’s great to think of things that he or she will use in the salon. This way, you get to see your gift in action, and it will make you both feel good to share in that! It’s also wonderful to think of what your hairdresser’s interests are, and go with something along those lines. I’m sharing some perfect hairdresser gift ideas for men or women, with lots of variety. Let’s get started!
Male Hairdresser Christmas Gifts
If your hairdresser is a guy, you may think it would be harder to come up with a gift idea. I’ve found some amazing things that I think any man would love, so think again! I’m telling you, Etsy has some really cool Christmas gifts for men, guys. It’s amazing what you can find!
Grooming gifts for men are perfect for guys who do hair! Clearly, men in the beauty industry want to look their best, and would care enough to take the time to do a little grooming, right? If your stylist has a beard, I have the perfect things for him! This “fear the beard” beard comb from EngravedWoodenGifts is way too cool, and it’s an Etsy Editor’s Pick, as well (to see more Editor’s Picks on Etsy, click here!) This comb is just awesome, and you don’t have to worry about breaking the bank. Even with shipping, it’ll be around $15! Choose to have it wrapped for a few bucks more! (If your female stylist has a beard, remind her there’s a wax machine somewhere in the salon! Ha!)
If you’re willing to spend a little more on your bearded hair guru, go for this amazing beard oil bauble from Beardelicious out of the UK. You get to choose the scent you want, and the carrier oil, and your gift will come in a pretty clear ornament for under $25 with shipping. I have heard super-wonderful things about Beardelicious’ products, so you’ll probably have him hooked…be sure to include any shop info in your gift so your stylist can re-order! My biggest challenge would be deciding which scent to buy…sandalwood, citrus blend, tea tree and even black pepper are on the list! So many scents, so little time!
Think candles aren’t for men? Think again! This bacon and bourbon scented beauty is the perfect man candle! What guy doesn’t love bacon and bourbon? For just a smidgen over $20, you can gift your dude-stylist an awesome-smelling candle that he’ll love! The coolest part? SilverDollarCandleCo is right here in my home state of Tennessee! (And hey, if your she-stylist loves bacon, get her one! I just think of bacon and bourbon as a manly scent, although I can’t imagine why. I love bacon…and bourbon!)
Gender-Neutral Gifts for Hair Stylists
I’m putting the things in this category that either male or female stylists could use, and would love to have. Etsy has plenty of gifts that would suit any stylist of any gender, and I found some really fabulous ones!
I’m absolutely in love with this straight razor necklace from PickleJuice23! This awesome piece of hardware would look so tough on a man or a woman, and it’s such a statement piece! Be sure to consider which chain length your stylist will need, and order accordingly by selecting it in the drop-down menu. PickleJuice23 has several super-cool jewelry pieces for hairstylists, including an awesome color brush necklace, so do shop them all! This amazing necklace is actually an Etsy Editor’s Pick, so I’m not the only one who thinks it’s amazing! I’m not at all surprised…
Another necklace that is absolutely one of the most perfect gifts for hairdressers is this “one inch” necklace from FriendlyGestures. Everyone seems to have a different interpretation of what an inch is, and this necklace is the answer…when the client says “take an inch off all over”, or “show me an inch”, this piece will come in very handy! For less than $25 shipped, you can gift your hairstylist with one of the most useful tools he or she will ever have in the salon!
I love the wooden design, and the fact that the top is low enough to allow the corked wine bottle to fit in the fridge. I don’t like wine stoppers that are tall and bulky! The price is right for these cuties at just $8, including shipping!
Here’s an item that is dear to my own heart, and comes from my own shop. My magnetic bobby pin bracelets are some of my biggest sellers, and they come in a variety of colors and prints, several of which are definitely unisex. This green corduroy is by far my favorite, but my black and brown faux leather ones are big sellers, as well. These bracelets will hold several bobby pins securely on your stylist’s wrist, helping him or her complete gorgeous up-dos without reaching or asking the client to hold the pins. It’s a simple design with velcro closure, and sells and ships for less than $25!
In case I haven’t mentioned it enough here on the blog, the name of my shop is AHairInMyBiscuit, and I actually have quite a few things that hairstylists would love! As I mentioned, there are several styles of these bracelets in my shop, along with some fun, up-cycled salon capes made from things like shower curtains and window treatments. Do give my shop a browse!
Female Hair Stylist Gift Ideas
I love this trinket dish from FettleandFire! Why would this be a great gift for hairstylists? Because we need a place to keep our rings and bracelets while we apply hair color! I loved wearing my chunky rings and favorite wrist baubles to work, but often had to remove them while wearing my protective gloves or while doing backbar treatments. Having a cute dish like this for her work station is perfect for keeping those pieces corralled while she works! There are several designs to choose from, and you can have it shipped to your door for under $15!
Because I seem to be stuck on cute wine stoppers, here is another one that your lady stylist will adore! These personalized wine stoppers in DaintyDarlingParty would make the perfect gift for any fun-loving hairdresser. These sell for $6 to $6.50, depending on the color you choose, and ship for less than $3, so this is an amazing gift for under ten dollars! How cool is that? I really like the design of this wine stopper, because I think it would be a lot less likely to spill if the bottle has to be turned on its side in the fridge. That plug looks like it means serious business! These look to be a little bulkier than the ones above, but the stopper itself makes it ok. 😉
This next listing is getting a mention because I have a pair of scissor earrings almost exactly like these, made and given to me by a special salon client. I wore these suckers almost daily! They’re dainty and small, and comfortable to wear. Mine were made with a lever-back style, which was super comfy for me, especially since I booked my own appointments and was on the phone quite a bit. This pair is in the shop SimplyDeborah, and if you prefer a lever-back clasp, it wouldn’t hurt to ask since the shop takes custom orders! Just be sure to take note of the turnaround time, which is actually true for any of the items in this post, now that I mention it. You’ll want to be sure to get your gift in time for Christmas!
The last on my list of hairdresser gifts for Christmas is one that I just love…these personalized notecards with a scissor and comb design are just wonderful. The shop is called EnvelopePlease, which just tickles me to death! Etsy sellers are so creative with their shop names!
It’s absolutely true that hairstylists are proud of their profession, and we love all kinds of gear that announces proudly what we do! These notecards are perfect for your stylist to send out thank-you’s to clients, drop a note to her Grandma, or to include when making donations of gift certificates for services. I don’t know of any hairdresser who would not love these adorable notecards! A set of 10 cards will arrive for less than $20, including shipping! That’s a gift she will LOVE!
spoil your hairdresser right back!
Yeah, you know your hairdresser spoils you rotten! Spoil him or her right back with one of these amazing gift ideas from Etsy. Let your stylist know they are appreciated, and spread a little love this holiday season! Not only will you make his or her day, but you’ll also make the day of hardworking creatives who love to pour their heart and soul into their handicrafts. I worked behind the salon chair for a long time, and I truly do cherish all the gifts I was given by my clients. Now, as a handmade seller on Etsy, I feel like I’m given a gift every time I make a sale in my shop. Supporting small business is good practice, and it definitely spreads joy and cheer to those who get to be creative for a living!
I hope you have fabulous hair, and lots of love this Christmas season! As you may remember from previous “Friday Etsy Favorite” posts, click the picture or the description to be taken to the listing, and click the shop names to be directed to the shop as a whole. Happy shopping!
